This is the time of resolutions, lookbacks and predictions, as we get ready for the New Year. For marketers, it’s been a year of disruption, as we try to keep up with the explosive growth in marketing technology – and use it to the best of our ability.
Next year will be no exception.
As we sift through the emerging opportunities and challenges presented by these new technologies – from artificial intelligence to mobile video – the endgame is the same: to attract and engage potential buyers. That’s it. Marketing, in its simplest form, has not changed. But the environment sure has. John Wanamaker never had it so good.
Next year will be equally exciting, as marketers try and keep up with consumers. Mobile has finally arrived and is being integrated into marketing and marketing automation. But what about wearables? Virtual reality? What changes will we see in social networks? Will beacon technology really take hold for local marketers? How the heck can any of us keep up?
To paraphrase Lin Brehmer of WXRT in Chicago, “It’s great to be a marketer.”
At Digital Marketing Depot, 2015 was a year of continued growth, as we offered more resources and research to our readers, more opportunity for our sponsors. Our goal is to present a one-stop source for all the information you need about digital marketing. Need to learn about a tactic, technology or tool? We should have an answer — and if you can’t find it here, check out Marketing Land and Search Engine Land, our sister sites, where the best minds in marketing and martech are writing these days.
Let us know what you think. We’re all going to have some fun in 2016.
And have a very happy, healthy, and productive New Year!
